Well for those of you who don't know, I make music. Surprises myself sometimes that I do yes, but I do.
As of this moment I only make my music in FL Studio 9.8. There's a version of 10 around which is also 9.9.9 but I don't want to use it mainly because none of my settings carried over to it and something puts me off every time I open it. I'm not sure what... but I just can't bring myself to use it. I will when 10 gets a full release.

However I would like to get a Korg Electribe, i've seen some cool video's of the thing and I want to see what I could do with it. But that's down the road.

I've grown quite a bit over time, and i'm still growing... probably won't stop growing either because I keep learning new things every day or just getting better.

Please note everything in this thread starts out with the bad, and works its way to the better stuff. I'm not going to post everything from the beginning because it's rather bad. But i'm going to post all the new stuff.

I knew about FL Studio for a while but I couldn't do much with it... a friend showed it to me and all he did was mess around with the voice tool. Which is all I did for a time until I realized the potential I had sitting on my computer. Which is also not until after talking to Nuff, who happened to make his music in the same program. This inspired me to figure out how to get it to do all that and I managed to chunk out a test tune that really can't amount to an actual song but it's a start nonetheless.
That's my first track, not much really but it's me learning how to use the pattern and playlist windows to make stuff.

Which led to my first actual song http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9118609
Nothing majorly good but hey it's a decent first song even with its problems. I'm happy with it really, I mean the song doesn't really go anywhere and it pretty much repeats the whole time. But you have to start somewhere.

I'd been using the demo version of FL Studio 8 for these tunes, so I had to leave the song open for days to make sure to keep working on it... you couldn't save in the demo. I lost three songs because of this. All three of them I had made a render of for some reason and then lost it the next day or in the next few minutes. Here's one of those http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9118608
Nothing really good, but I didn't have time to polish it... I was mostly fooling around for most of this.

This next song is one i'm still pretty proud of, I'll copy the description on my FA and soundclick because it explains it perfectly. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9118606
"So i'm in class and one of of the people in there heard some of the songs i'd made and put on the network for others to listen. He asked me through BorgChat if I wanted to remix one of his songs. So I said why not, as all he was going to give me was a vocal track. I just needed to know the speed, which was apparently 120 bpm. So really all I did was take the vocals and make my own song based around the vocal track. I'd say I did pretty good.

Nuff (goes by Nuff X on here) made a remix of this version of the song after he heard it on a forum I posted it on. I gladly let him remix it as he's really good at remixes and making music. You can find his version here: http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8724406 "
And yes, Nuff heard a version just before being fully finished when I posted it over on the TK forum. I didn't have any problems with him remixing my version and neither did my friend. I'm really impressed with what he did to my stuff.
I'm actually debating remaking this song, from the ground up to be better. Going to see if I can't get a newer vocal take on the song too, and try to make it to where it can be played live. Though to play it live i'll have to get me a MIDI controller, but hey I don't care I want one anyway.

This next song is rather bleh... but it was some lame attempt at some sort of metal or something... it gets better in the last half but not too much really. 200 BPM is rather nasty http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9118610
Not really much else to say about this one.

This song... took forever to finish. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9413052
I couldn't get certain things right in it and I kinda just let it sit for a few months. When I was finally ready to work on it it just kinda started working. It's not perfect, but it's getting there.

This song was made in ten minutes http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9880502
There were a few days that were rather crappy and this day derailed and crashed and burned on me. I forget what happened, all I know is I was mad and I needed a way to vent. I knew people drew vent art sometimes, so I figured it could work with music. I expected a more aggressive tune really but by ten minutes and only four different sounds used in the whole song I think I did decently enough. It's better than I expected it to be anyway.

This song is where I feel my skills got much better http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9880503
More to where I want to be with my music, it's not perfect but by this time i've learned so many things about FL Studio and a bit about different filters and stuff I can do. It's also where I started getting better with actual melody lines instead of playing something random and ok. It's getting there atleast.

I had this one sitting untouched for a while http://www.soundclick.com/band/spage_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=9946118
It sat for months just existing as a bassline and drums, I could never come up with anything until one day it just clicked. I'm pretty happy with this one.

And this... yes http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=10039061
So it's my attempt at a Drum and Bass track, and the first thing i'm going to mention is the drums aren't what they should be for DnB. The beat is fine, it's the sounds really... not punchy enough in my opinion. But hey otherwise it's a good track, i'm really happy with this one. In hindsight there's a few things with this one I would have changed. But I suppose it's not a bad track and i'll try my hand at something like this again definitely.

And my latest track, possibly my best so far. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=1066492&songID=10296308
This one took a while to make, but it was worth every minute of it. Everyone I had listen to it while still making it loved it. And I have to say it's my best attempt so far at melody lines and stuff. I look forward to making more stuff like this in the future.

And that's it really. Just take a listen and enjoy. I'll only keep improving and i'd love to hear what everyone else thinks too. And be honest, tell me places where you think I could improve and i'll try my best.
