What's the most inane, ridiculous or sickening thing you've heard someone say about us furries?

I'll get the ball rolling: Apparently, we like to -Yiff!- animals.

Furries are all gay men who dress up in animal costumes to yiff. I mean it's a well known fact, you can't deny it.

The animal costume thing, but to an extreme that we go to conventions just for that kind of thing to do it in front of everyone.

The gay part is new though.

It makes me wonder... What was the misconception CSI gave us?

The thing about the CSI episode though is that it's in some levels all true.

But they portray it as the norm, hence the backlash.

That being a furry means being a gay sex obsessed perv who enjoys -Yiffing!- animals more than anything else. The kid who said it is also a super-religious homophobe, though. As for stereotypes being portrayed as the norm, thats just how the media works. They want the worst of the worst, the sensational, and anything that immediately catches attention, so they can keep their viewers/readers. I don't really blame the media for what they do too much, if they reported 100% true fact, they'd probably have no viewers, but what CSI did was... just wrong. They had the opprotunity to do research, and if they couldn't find a way to show that that isn't the norm, they didn't need to do it. I've talked to some avid fans of the series, and they thought the episode was just bizzare, rather than "oh wow, I didn't know that" entertaining. And thus ends my rant on the subject.

Well that also depends on who you talk to. To some that is the norm. To others it is not. And while there may be a vast majority of those that may not be the norm to, it is rather hard to argue that point when one of the biggest furry sites (Fur Affinity) is filled to the brim with sticky wet male genitalia. And every place with furries in mind on Second Life has something to do with yiffing at least somewhere. I'm just saying. There's really nothing wrong with the CSI episode, at least not that I can see. And besides. CSI isn't exactly real, it's realistic I suppose but I don't believe anything in the show happens. Not to mention there was never a mention of "furries" in the entire thing. It was implied but not said. So while things were based on the furry fandom, it can also be argued that that is not what they were really doing.

Heh, you'd be surprised just how much people believe CSI. They know it's fiction, but I know people who've tried to make their own diamonds because of that show. Many people believe all the forensics and science and such is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. Because it's TV, and TV never lies.

Well as said, furries were never mentioned in the episode only heavily implied.

The 'convention' the show uses is called PAFCon, which stands for "Plushies And Furries Convention". So yeah, it's mentioned.

While I do remember it was filmed at an actual con, I couldn't remember if the name showed up anywhere.

To be honest, I absolutely loved that episode Hilarious

Hell, Im the kid who turns up to school on a non-uniform day with a rabbit ear hat, and wanders around town with a bunch of other furfags on occasion Razz

I really don't care how other people see the fandom, if they are able to see past the yiff and the homoeroticisms and just say "Hey, I'm not into that stuff, but you are and that's cool." then I'm impressed... Sure has no one here listened to furcast? It's a pretty Pawsome show (Although yo be honest I kind if stopped listening once it got really popular, as it lost the closeness it had at the beginning, but it's still Pawsome Razz)

If you look up OMG! With peaches geldoff furries on YouTube, you get a pretty interesting interview with some furs from down south Ireland, although a quite drunken Dom Joly (Trigger Happy TV) kind of trolls the group- still made me laugh though =D

To hell what people think, so long as yo can have a good time yourself, that's all that matters, mm? ^^
